Created to Create
Open the Joy Radio website or social media accounts on any given day, and it won’t take long for you to see the handiwork of Hannah Day. She is Joy Radio’s Web and Digital Media Specialist.
“If you see content, graphics, or social media posts, there’s a good chance I created them,” Hannah says. “My role allows me to blend creativity with technology in a way that helps connect our stations with listeners every day.”
Hannah, who also oversees web and social media communications for our three sister stations, loves to put her ideas to a keyboard and create images that express what Joy Radio is all about.
“In many ways, designing graphics feels a lot like decorating a home, bringing ideas to life and creating something meaningful and visually appealing,” she says.
Creating each image takes time and careful attention to detail. It’s work that most people never see.
“Great design isn’t something you can simply throw together,” Hannah explains. “It takes patience, creativity, and a lot of careful work behind the scenes.”
Below are some of her great graphic design work!
Finding Faith
Long before she began designing graphics for Joy Radio, God was shaping Hannah’s own story. While growing up in Hamblen County, Hannah was raised in a faith-filled home.
She sensed the prompting of the Holy Spirit to come to Christ at a church revival when she was a teen.
“I felt an overwhelming burden on my heart that I couldn’t ignore.” Hannah says. “I remember hearing people talk about the Lord ‘knocking on your heart,’ and for the first time, I understood exactly what they meant.”
A quiet conversation with her pastor helped Hannah find her way. “It was that day that I accepted Christ and was saved by His grace.”
Hannah’s favorite Bible verse is Isaiah 60:22: When the time is right, I the Lord, will make it happen.
“This verse has always been a reminder to trust God’s timing, even when I don’t understand His plan,” she says.
Home is Where the Heart Is
“I love spending time with my family, whether that means relaxing together at home or making memories wherever the day takes us.”
The youngest of eight children, Hannah says when she was growing up there was never a dull moment. She also says those relationships helped shape who she is today as a wife and mother.
Married to an Air Force Sergeant, and also a “boy mom” to three sons, Hannah refers to herself as “a proud East Tennessean, born and raised in Morristown. After all this time, there’s still no place like home.
“I am happiest when I am with my family. Nothing compares to sitting on the front porch with my husband while watching our three boys play together,” she says. “Those simple moments remind me of what truly matters most in life.”
The Best of Both Worlds
God has woven a passion for creativity through every fiber of Hannah’s life. At work, she’s creative on a computer, pulling colors, shapes, lines and images together for everything from radio station announcements to inspirational thoughts and Bible study prompts.
Outside of work, she still uses her creativity – but in different ways.
“In fact, my family often asks me to help decorate their homes because they say I can bring their vision to life,” Hannah says. “Creating beautiful spaces has always brought me a sense of joy, fulfillment, and contentment.”
Faith and family have carried Hannah through the best and worst days, and she never takes God’s gifts for granted.
“It’s easy to get caught up in worldly distractions and focus on what we don’t have, but I’m constantly reminded of how much God has blessed me,” Hannah says. “Even through difficult seasons, I remain grateful for my family, my faith, and the many blessings God has placed in my life.”
