The Bridge
About the Ministry
The Bridge is a Christ‑centered recovery ministry based at Black Oak Heights Baptist Church in Knoxville, Tennessee. Its mission is to walk alongside individuals and families impacted by addiction, offering a pathway to hope, healing, and long‑term transformation through the power of the Gospel.
Black Oak Heights Baptist Church created The Bridge to meet a growing need in the Knoxville area — a place where people can be honest about their struggles, find real help, and experience the life‑changing grace of God. The ministry emphasizes that no one has to walk the road to recovery alone.
What The Bridge Does
- Provides a safe, judgment‑free environment for anyone struggling with addiction, whether it’s substance use, alcohol, or other life‑controlling issues.
- Offers weekly gatherings that include worship, teaching, testimonies, and small‑group support.
- Connects participants with mentors and community, helping them build healthy relationships and accountability.
- Equips individuals with biblical tools for overcoming addiction and rebuilding their lives.
- Supports families and loved ones who are walking through the recovery journey as well.

Tune into The Ministry Corner with Dr. Pat Polis every Monday to learn about featured local ministries you can partner with to help real people come to faith in Christ and live as effective Christians for the Kingdom of God!
Bible Study
How can we fight the attacks of the enemy? By knowing the Word of God. When Jesus was being tempted in the wilderness, He called to mind and professed out loud the very Word of God to combat the enemy. We too can use the sword of the Spirit in our fight. May the Word of God dwell in you richly!
Passion for Prayer
Your passion for prayer can be developed by knowing that through Christ, God has invited His children to talk to Him. Standing before His throne is a victory Christ accomplished through His death and resurrection! He tore the veil, now we can enter in boldly to the throne of God and bring our praises and requests.
Connect with Christian Community
God did not make you to walk through this life alone. He wants to not only make Himself known to you by personally walking with you on every step of your way, but He also divinely placed others in your life to help you face the difficult days with support and the wonderful days with gift of friendship. Don't do life alone. Get connected with a local church in your area.
